Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 July 2026
This policy explains what information SeaLife collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the SeaLife mobile app and this website.
1. Information we collect
Account details you provide (name, email, phone number). If you list a boat or experience as an owner, the identity and verification documents we need to confirm you can transact. If you book, a government identification document — a national ID, passport, or driver's licence — which you upload as an image or PDF. You may save up to three, choose one as your default, and pick which one applies to each booking. We store the document you upload; we do not extract, read, or record the details printed on it. The listings, bookings, reviews, and messages you create. Approximate or precise location to show nearby listings and power map search. Device and usage data — including device identifiers and app activity — needed to keep the app reliable.
2. How we use your information
To operate SeaLife — sign you in, process bookings, show relevant listings, send booking and support messages, verify owners, and improve the service. We use the identification document you attach to a booking for one purpose only: so the owner can confirm who is boarding their boat or joining their experience. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, or automated decisions. We never sell your personal data.
3. Sharing and third parties
When you book, the identification document you selected for that booking is shared with the owner of that specific boat or experience, so they can confirm who is boarding. Only that owner, for that one booking, can view it — not other owners, not other customers, and not owners of your other bookings. The owner views it inside the SeaLife app; the app does not offer them a download or share option. They see the document you chose for that booking, and later changes you make to your saved documents do not change what they see.
Otherwise we share data only with providers that run the service: maps, cloud hosting, and analytics. We also share advertising and conversion events with Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to measure and improve our marketing. Each provider acts under contract. We may also disclose information to comply with the law or a valid legal request, and — if SeaLife is ever part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — as part of that transaction.
4. Where we store your data
Your data is stored and processed on secure cloud infrastructure hosted in Europe, which may be outside the country where you use SeaLife. Wherever it is processed, we apply the protections described in this policy.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. Some records — notably booking and transaction records — are kept after deletion for the period required by applicable tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution law.
Identification documents are kept to a shorter, specific schedule. A document you save stays until you delete it or close your account — you can remove one at any time from Account → ID Documents. The separate copy attached to a booking is deleted on its own timetable: immediately when a booking is declined or expires; 90 days after a booking is completed or cancelled; and, if a dispute is open, only once it is resolved and that 90-day period has passed. After the copy is deleted we keep only the document's name and the date it was provided, as a record that identification was presented — the file itself is gone, and the owner can no longer view it. Closing your account deletes every saved document and every booking copy. See Delete your account for details.
6. How we protect your data
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable cloud providers to protect your information, and we limit access to those who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
7. Your rights and choices
You can edit your profile, manage notifications, and request account deletion. You may also request a copy of your data or ask us to correct it.
8. Children
SeaLife is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
